3 Oct CBS Community Nursery
Only after the last tree has been cut down.the last river has been poisoned.the last fish caught, only then will you find that money cannot be eaten." This quote clearly indicates the importance of tree in our life. The students of CBS laid down the foundation to develop a community nursery at the campus under the guidance of a skilled gardener Jagdish Bhaiya. This is aimed at achieving three goals: 1. Utilizing the immense potential of the gardener, 2. Providing easy and less costly access of plants to the society at large and 3. Making students learn this field of potential business.
On 3rd October during the Joy of Giving Week, Dr. Deepak Kaul, Director-CBS formally inaugurated the nursery that would be handled by student coordinators: Mr. Dilip S Hada (PGDM 2010-12), Mr. Arpit Nagar (PGDM 2011-13) and Ms. Richa Saxena (PGDM 2011-13) to scale it up. A Tulsi was implanted at a piece of land identified within the campus. The model is based on a community sharing basis in which 1000 people shall contribute Rs. 10 each in exchange of which everyone will get a rose bud to be converted into a plant. The seed capital shall be used to start developing new plants. Students and other contributors will get a chance to treasure this unique gift from the campus to be with them for a life time.

Joy of Giving Week'11: Day 1 Vastra Samman Camp at Dewas
"We don't want to grow Goonj as an organization. Rather we want to grow it as an idea."
- Anshu Gupta, Founder Director (Goonj)
With the same spirit, Joy of Giving Week'11 started at Core Business School with a collection of activities to be held every day for next 7 days. On 2 October 2011 2 students Mr. Sanjay Kumar and Mr. Sandeep Yadav organized Vastra Samman camp at Civil Line School for Excellence, Dewas from 9am to 7pm.
It was a thoroughly planned activity in which pamphlets were distributed a day prior to the camp to create awareness. At the very day it was a good number of people who came forward with an open heart to contribute for the noble cause. They were also made aware about the concept of Goonj, Joy of Giving Week and how a person could participate in such activities more frequently.
Approximately 5000 clothes were collected in a day. As per the experience of the two student volunteers, people like to participate in social activities but they don't get access to some honest agency working for a cause. A youth group expressed its interest to work with Goonj if they could get proper guidance. Other students at CBS are also planning to setup such collection drives at other cities.
The Talent Show
A talent show was held on the 17th of September 2011 at the CBS auditorium. It lasted for about one hour and thirty minutes. It was a great opportunity for all the students of CBS to exhibit their talent and also was an opportunity for all the freshers to interact with the senior batch. It was organised by Abhinav and kavya from senior batch and Aditya and Shruti form junior batch. The reflection of the name was found in the content of the show. Fillers like tongue twisters and one minute games were an added feature for boosting the energy of the audience. The solo dance performance by Aditya and Abhishek followed by mimicry by Gaurishankar brought smiles to the faces of all present in the auditorium. The tongue twister and one minute games conducted by Uday, Naveen, Ankur and Dilip from the senior batch brought fun and excitement amongst the participants. Presentation of hymn and rap was good as it was something diverse in itself. The in act performance was awesome as it filled the auditorium with laughter. The group dance performance which was delivered by level one was different than a usual dance and steps involved were different as well. Thus the whole show was setup very nicely with lot of enthusiasm and team work. It provided good entertainment and refreshed the minds occupied in daily schedule.

Janmashtami Celebration
Krishna Janamashtami also known as Krishnashtami or Janamashtami was celebrated with fun and fervour at Core Business School on the 22nd of August. The day began when the student representatives enlightened all on various Brand Management lessons that could be learnt from Krishna through a beautiful display on the notice board. The article which discussed how the horses of Krishna's chariot could be correlated with various elements of management and how a brand manager should cautiously use these elements was worth reading. Though the day progressed with regular lecture schedules but all were eagerly awaiting for the evening "Dahi- Handi" activity which was to take place in the front lawns of CBS. It was probably the most beautiful evening atCBS where the crimson colours in the sky seemed to also celebrate the birth of Lord Krishna. The co-curricular members had made elaborate arrangements for the occasion and the garden was all set for the Dahi-Handi competition where an individual had to break the "Matki" blindfolded. It was achallenging task as the participants had to first tread blindfolded on a zig-zag path to reach the spot where the "Matki" was placed and then had to break the same in one shot. Each participant was welcomed and guided/ misguided with lot of hooting which added spice to the whole event. Despite these distractions few students ultimately turned out to be "Arjunas" of CBS and could finally complete the task in the shortest time and were declared victorious. The first prize was awarded to Ms.Kavya Singh of 2nd year by Mr.DheerajDalal. The second prize was claimed by Gaurishankar from 1st year and the third prize was given to Ms.RichaSaxena, again from 1st year. The sweets were distributed amongst the students and finally the student gathering rejoiced and danced to celebrate the moment.
