Student Cells... Fostering Dynamism
Brand Wagon
Brand Wagon is the forum for students to experience the fun of marketing through discussions, games and interaction with the industry. Its discussion groups, competitions and knowledge bank give the students an avenue to apply theoretical concepts to real life and gain practical insights into innovative thoughts within marketing. Amongst the ongoing activities of this committee, the regular updation of the management blog- www.managementtadka.blogspot.com, calls for inputs from the students on a variety of current business situations. This provides a healthy discussion forum and also enables knowledge sharing. "The Chakravyuh", an annual marketing quiz organized by the members of Brand Wagon , takes the knowledge of the students on a completely different platform.
Finalyst
The Finance Committee at Core Business School (CBS) epitomizes the notion of "learning with fun". The primary aim of FINALYST is not only to impart knowledge to its members but also to give them insights on the scope & opportunities available in the field of finance along with the kind of preparations required to achieve the same. The major activities of FINALYST include:
- Dhan Kuber - An amalgamation of quizzing and the concept of risk and return analysis.
- Confluence - Series of seminars by students on the industry aimed at sharing information about various sectors leading to mutual benefit of students.
HoRizon
Out of the five M's of production there is only one that could be infinite and it is "Man". The name of the HR committee also resembles similarity of meaning. As HRM is an area that requires lot of behaviourial inputs in addition to hard theoretical concepts done in class hence, it focuses on areas like Negotiation, Counseling, Competency Mapping and analyzing the behaviourial dimensions of a person. As a support to placement activities, this committee helps students identifying their potential and start working on it.
Non-Academic Committees
Place Com
The culmination of all efforts of everyone at CBS is realized by Place Com. The committee works for whole academic year right from identifying the inclination of both batches for summer internships and final placements, arranging the guest lectures and industry visits to provide much needed exposure to students. The committee also focuses on helping students to design their CVs and get them prepared for interviews by conducting "Gyan Sessions" which are conducted by senior batch students to help the junior batch by sharing their experiences and subject knowledge. The first batch placement has been the ratification of the work done by this committee.
NEEV – The Core
Being ethical is one of the values we follow at CBS. To inculcate this value in every stakeholder, NEEV focuses on two of the three bottom lines in Triple Bottom Line i. e. People and Planet. The committee started its working with around 40 students of 1st batch to collect the underutilized material and making it accessible to villagers. The activity scaled up as a result of collaboration with an NGO named Goonj (www.goonj.org). As of today CBS students handling NEEV have taken number of initiatives which have crossed the infancy stage including Project School (teaching computer and English skills to nearby village students), CBS Community Nursery (providing society with an easy access of plants), CBS Community Library (providing access of books and resources to students in rural areas), preparing smokeless fuel out of waste paper and designing paper envelopes to prevent use of plastic in local community.
The Spirit - Entrepreneurship Cell
This cell encourages the participants to convert ideas to implementation. Knowledge sharing is encouraged amongst all the leading B-schools through National Entrepreneurship Network and Core is proud to be a part of this network.
The entrepreneurship cell of Core Business School takes the responsibility of providing an exposure to the world of real business. E-cell organizes various workshops and events, in association with National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN). Each year E-cell organizes a 2-day long workshop in each trimester, on Business Modelling, Business Planning and Marketing Plan. The workshops are organized along with entrepreneurs to give the students a practical insight of the business world. All the activities entail case based methodologies, live workshops, discussions, guest lectures, mentoring sessions etc. NEN takes the responsibility of training selected students for basic as well as the advanced level.
CANS....
"If you think, you CANS..." The can-do spirit is what CBS Adventure-Nature & Sports (CANS) club lives by. Conducting the activities aimed at pushing people to their limits and thereby widening their horizon is the responsibility of CANS. In recent times, the club has successfully conducted intra institute sports tournament, outbound visit including tracking, rowing etc.
3Cs Co-Curricular Committee
The committee is devoted to develop extra-curricular activities of the students. It organizes various events like plantation day, fresher's night, debates, extempore and various lively competitions. The aim of the committee is to bring out the hidden talents in a student and infuse him with confidence that would have a spill over effect in his holistic development as a competent manager and future leader.

Mess Committee
